| Ano Nuevo State Reserve offers discounted guided tours for school groups to see the northern elephant seal rookery during the winter breeding season. Reservations are accepted for tours from mid-December through late March. Reservations are taken beginning in October and sell out right away. $21 for a group of 20 students and 2 chaperones for a 2 and 1/2 hour, 3 mile strenuous walk. | Elkhorn Slough Safari, is a 2-hour nature tour for grades 3-6 high school science classes aboard a 29-foot pontoon boat, departing out of Moss Landing. The cruise provides an in-depth look at the slough ecology, including sea otters, migratory seabirds and waterfowl. Call Captain Yohn Gideon at 831-633-5555 for reservations. Tour times vary according to the tides. Space is available for 23 students and two chaperones per tour. |
