2009 |
Yosemite Backpacking for Teens from beautiful Tuolumne Meadows to the valley floor. This exciting event is for exemplary teenagers and encourages students to develop self-confidence and experience challenging exercise with learning-by-discovery. From our start in beautiful Tuolumne Meadows we'll hike past glacier-carved valleys, a High Sierra Camps, scenic lakes, water falls and alpine vistas. We can climb to the top of Clouds Rest and Half Dome for extraordinary views. Participants provide their own food and gear. Parents carpool students to and from Yosemite. Students may apply by writing an essay describing why they want to go and what they hope to learn plus their personal definitions of character, honor and integrity. Register early. 12 student limit. Tuition includes a $100 good conduct deposit which is refundable at the end of the trip, plus 2 meetings, trip preparations, entrance fees, reservations for the trails, instructions, final dinner/breakfast & more! There is an early registration discount, and some repeat students qualify for lower tuition. 423-5925, Diane Cornell or Irvin Lindsey |
Outdoor Science Exploration
2009
|
Day Adventure Field Trips - One of the most effective and fun ways to learn science is through hands-on active learning, especially outdoors in nature. There is great interest and need for effective science education. Subjects that we teach through experiments are: air pressure, earth sciences, electricity, energy, light, motion, sound, temperature and more. These adventures include science experiements and also time for recreation and exploration at parks and beaches. These adventures are offered to children from 7 to 14 years old and are held at parks and beaches from mid June 9 through July 19, 2008. Families may choose for their children to attend any day, a few days, a week or all 5 weeks. There is a discount when tuition is paid 30 days or more in advance.
Call ahead to join any day when space is available. 423-5925, Diane Cornell or Irvin Lindsey |
