Camp SEA Lab day camp is a perfect opportunity for youth ages 8-13 to get a glimpse of the vast diversity that the ocean environment has to offer. Campers spend 5 days immersed in marine habitats with a variety of hands-on activities!
Each day from 9 am to 4 pm, day campers can expect fun-filled days packed with exciting activities that introduce them to important marine concepts, help them to build self-confidence and relationships with their peers, and involve them in learning to care for our coasts and ocean.
Camp SEA Lab day programs vary by location and theme. Our camps utilize a wealth of resources throughout the central coast. From slough to sea, Camp SEA Lab partners with multiple marine organizations up and down the coast to provide the best possible program for our participants. Health and safety are always our primary concern, and each site is selected for their commitment to maintain a safe environment.
Day Camp Descriptions
Discover the secrets of our finned ocean friends - whales, seals, and more! Campers will learn field identification skills aboard a whale watching vessel and seek out sea lions, seals and otters while kayaking in our local slough. We'll explore the unique adaptations these animals have to survive life in the sea. This experience allows campers to explore their curiosities about marine mammals in a fun and educational learning environment.
What creatures live along the shoreline habitats of the Monterey Bay? Come join us to discover the wonderful world of the intertidal zone! Campers will get their hands wet while investigating many different sandy beach and rocky intertidal habitats, explore the beautiful coastline by kayak, and have exciting opportunities to discover what survives between the tides.
Surfs up! Spend the week catching the curl in Monterey Bay while you learn to surf and explore the science of waves, tides and currents. Campers will receive lessons from experienced surf instructors as they hang ten along the coast. Investigate marine life, create a sand sculpture masterpiece, and take part in marine conservation activities that help preserve and protect our coastline. Campers must be able to swim.
