Something's Fishy-

Marine Science for Girls--Explorers spend an exciting week at the lab and in the field. Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how scientists and trainers do research with Long Marine Lab’s marine mammals. Girls will spend two days working with seals, sea lions, and dolphins alongside the lab’s experts. Later in the week, we’ll travel south to experience the beautiful Big Sur coast after a morning of hiking and exploration at Point Lobos State Reserve. Thursday afternoon we’ll arrive in Big Sur where we’ll set-up camp and swim in the river before settling down for a great night of story telling, star gazing, and camping at Riverside Campground. Finally, wrap up a great week of fun with a kayak adventure on the Monterey Bay. Please note: Participants need to supply their own sleeping bags and sleeping pads. Restroom facilities, including showers, are available at Riverside Campground.
Masterful Marine Mammals--Discover how marine mammals are adapted for life in the sea and how research at Long Marine Lab is contributing to the conservation of dolphins, seals, sea lions, and sea otters. Explorers will gain first-hand experience in marine mammal training and animal care techniques. Work with researchers and trainers to learn about Long Marine Lab’s amazing marine mammals: Morgan and Charlie (southern sea otters), Rio and Ronan (California sea lions), Puka and Primo (Atlantic bottlenose dolphins), Tunu and Amak (spotted seals), and Sprouts (harbor seal). All participants will set out on the Monterey Bay by kayak to observe behaviors of marine mammals and other kelp forest critters.

Day Camps

Camp SEA Lab day camp is a perfect opportunity for youth ages 8-13 to get a glimpse of the vast diversity that the ocean environment has to offer. Campers spend 5 days immersed in marine habitats with a variety of hands-on activities!

Each day from 9 am to 4 pm, day campers can expect fun-filled days packed with exciting activities that introduce them to important marine concepts, help them to build self-confidence and relationships with their peers, and involve them in learning to care for our coasts and ocean.

Camp SEA Lab day programs vary by location and theme. Our camps utilize a wealth of resources throughout the central coast. From slough to sea, Camp SEA Lab partners with multiple marine organizations up and down the coast to provide the best possible program for our participants. Health and safety are always our primary concern, and each site is selected for their commitment to maintain a safe environment.
